Raquel Faria, MD at the Unit of Clinical Immunology (UIC) and member of the "Autoimmunity & Neurosciences" of UMIB, took two research works, as posters, to the 16th International Congress on Antiphospholipid Antibodies (ICAPA).

This conference, held in Manchester, United Kingdom, from 17th to 20th September 2019, gathered specialists in antiphospholipid syndrome from all over the world. In this edition, the new Classification Criteria, Treatment Recommendations, Experimental Model of the Disease and the Potential Treatment Options were discussed.

As previously mentioned, Raquel presented two research works in this congress. The first consisted in a Cohort study of 140 patients with Antiphospholipid Syndrome followed at the UIC, under coordination of Graziela Carvalheiras and Carlos Vasconcelos, MD, PhD.

Her second work was developed on the context of a Master Thesis of the MSc student Mariana Fidalgo, about the role of the Multiple Autoimmunity Syndrome (more than 3 autoimmune diseases) in the clinical, immunological and genetic characteristics of Antiphospholipid Syndrome.

The research group thanks the financial support of UCB for Congress registration, and Ernesto Morais Foundation for funding the project in Multiple Autoimmunity Syndrome.

UMIB researchers were present at the "SEHIT 2019"!
