Introduction:

The Oncology Research Group was created by a team in the area of Oncobiology, Oncogenetics and Oncological Diseases, intending to take advantage of the synergies created by the Medical Oncology Service of the Hospital of Porto.

The Union intends to direct its actions towards:

Developing research, including multidisciplinary and translational research in oncology, particularly in cancer genetics and oncogenomics by defining lines and building projects networks;
Cooperation by signing agreements with other units / research and training centers or other organizations interested in the development of Oncobiology at a national and an international level;
Contributing to the enrichment and diffusion of knowledge in the area of Health and Life Sciences, particularly in biology and tumor pathophysiology;
Providing external services to third parties through budgeting costs and enabling the raise of funds for the group;
Encouraging the training of new researchers;
Collaborating in all activities that are agreed with ICBAS-UP, in research, teaching and dissemination of the various actions undertaken by both.

Aims:

The main purposes of the Oncology Group are:

To develop research, including multidisciplinary and translational research in oncology, particularly in cancer genetics and oncogenomics by defining lines and building projects networks;
To collaborate by signing agreements with other units / research and training centers or other organizations interested in the development of Oncobiology at a national and na international level;
To contribute to the enrichment and diffusion of knowledge in the area of Health and Life Sciences, particularly biology and tumor pathophysiology.
